7° Rally di Sardegna Bike

Arzana, 9 aprile 2014. Anche la campionessa Sandra Klomp sarà presente alla settima edizione del Rally di Sardegna bike che si disputa in Sardegna nello splendido scenario dell’Ogliastra dal 8 al 14 giugno.  La notizia è stata confermata dalla stessa atleta di origine olandese ma residente in Liguria, che in questi utimi anni ha vinto le più impegnative e significative competizioni, gareggiando con successo in Italia, Olanda, Brasile, Austria, Spagna e Australia e meritandosi l’appellativo di campione dei due mondi.
Indubbiamente è una donna tenace, grintosa, solare e dinamica. E’ madre di tre figli ma questo non l’ha di certo ostacolata nel corso della sua brillante carriera sportiva.
Il suo curriculum sportivo ha inizio nel 1989 quando in sella ad una mountain bike vince tutte le gare regionali alle quale partecipa e un anno dopo ottiene il quarto posto al Campionato Italiano ed è 36^  al Campionato del Mondo.  Sarà un susseguirsi di trionfi come la sua prima vittoria alla Transalp  ed il sesto posto alla Rock d’Azur; quindi l’incredibile escalation all’Ironbike dal 2001.  Nel 2005 vince la Transcatalunya in Spagna e il rally del Piocera in Brasile. Nel 2006 si aggiudica il Marathon Tour amatore, il Savoia Classic ed  un prestigioso secondo posto al Crocodile Trophy in Australia. Nel 2012  vince la GimondiBike  e nel 2013 la  Vuelta a Ibiza . Nello stesso 2013  a Grumello del Monte  in occasione della Valcavallina Superbike, in un tratto di discesa, la Klomp subisce sfortunatamente un impatto violento  al ginocchio sinistro con un concorrente che la  stava superando. Purtroppo le verrà diagnosticata la rottura del crociato, del menisco e una piccola lesione ai legamenti che la obbligherà a sottoporsi ad un’operazione e a uno stop dalle gare per sei mesi.

Per il 2014 il ritorno al Rally di Sardegna Bike sarà una grande ed entusiasmante sfida per “la mamma volante”, ormai così ribattezzata da tutti,  che la vede come favorita nelle cinque tappe sulle montagne da Arzana a Barisardo. La Klomp, infatti, è già stata protagonista in Ogliastra  come atleta nel 2009, poi come apripista negli anni successivi. “È una terra che conosco ormai da tempo e che amo” – Così sostiene l’atleta ormai diventata sardo-olandese- “Spero veramente di vincere questo rally che si svolge in un paesaggio così affascinante e suggestivo per tutti coloro che come noi affrontano sterrati, mulattiere e sentieri tutti da scoprire. La mountain bike ti permette di conoscere la natura dove e come nessun altro mezzo può fare”.

“Sandra è sicuramente la favorita” – dice Vittorio Serra l’atleta sardo reduce dalle più massacranti gare del mondo – “Quanto a me dovrò difendere i colori della Sardegna  e non sarà facile.

Arzana, 2014 april 9. Even the champion Sandra Klomp will be present to the 7th edition of the Rally of Sardinia bike that takes place in the beautiful scenery in Sardinia Ogliastra from 8 to 14 June. The news was confirmed by the same athlete of Dutch origin but resident in Liguria, that in these last years has won the most challenging and meaningful competitions, competing successfully in Italy, Holland, Brazil, Austria, Spain and Australia, earning the champion title of two worlds.

She is a tenacious, spirited, cheerful and dynamic woman. She is the mother of three children, but this has certainly not hindered her in the course of her brilliant sports career.
Her sport curriculum beguins in 1989 when riding a mountain bike she wins all the regional competitions to which she participates, and a year later she obtains the 4th  place in the Italian Championship and 36th  in the World Championship. It will be a succession of triumphs as her first victory at the Transalp and 6th place in the Rock d’Azur; then the incredible escalation Ironbike since 2001. In 2005 she won the Transcatalunya in Spain and the rally Piocera in Brazil. In 2006 she won the Savoy Classic and a prestigious second place at the Crocodile Trophy in Australia. In 2012 she won the Vuelta in 2013 and the GimondiBike in Ibiza. In 2013 during the Valcavallina Superbike in a downhill stretch Sandra Klomp unfortunately suffers a violent impact to the left knee with a competitor that was passing. Unfortunately, the doctors will diagnose her the cruciate and meniscus rupture, a small ligament injury that will force her to undergo an operation and stop from racing for six months.

For 2014 the return to Sardinia Rally Bike will be a great and exciting challenge for the “flyng mother”, now so renamed by all, which sees her as a favorite in the five stages of the mountains from Arzana to Barisardo.

The Klomp, in fact, has already been in Ogliastra as an athlete in 2009, then as a trailblazer in the following years. “It is a land that I know for some time now and I love” – So says the Sardinian-Dutch athlete – “I really hope to win this rally that takes place in a landscape so fascinating and charming for all those of us who deal with dirt roads, tracks and paths to explore. The mountain bike allows you to know the natura where and how no other means can do. ”

“Sandra is certainly the favorite”– says Victor Serra, the Sardinian veteran athlete from the most grueling races in the world – “As for me, I will defend the colors of Sardinia and it will not be easy.”
